Just In: Protest Rocks Katsina Community Over Insecurity
Some group of people Today held a protest to condemn the killing and kidnapping of innocent people of Katsina State by armed men.

The protesters, most of whom were youths from villages of Ilala, Kadawa and Mahuta communities from Dandume Local Government blocked the major road leading to Birnin Gwari Local Government of Kaduna State and Funtua Local Government in Katsina.

Salisu Mahuta, one of the protesters told our reporter that “ we have been here since 9 am demanding for accountability in security situation in our communities, armed groups have taken over our lands”.

Mahuta further lamented that “they attacked Kadawa badly this morning, killed some people and kidnapped many”.

“It seems the government has abandoned us in the hands of these merciless and deadly criminals. They are killing us and raping our women daily,” he added.

The protesters set tyres on fire while chanting that “Buhari and Masari are total failures” and also demanding the authorities to do something urgent”.

Another protester who spoke to our reporter lamented that villagers have lost “total access to our farmlands, spent a lot on paying ransom and the government doing nothing to save us”.

Dandume Local Government is a farming community in the northwest of Katsina where the majority are cultivating different cash crops.

The protest came few days after suspected terrorists abducted over 80 Islamic school children returning from the celebration of Maulud Nabiyyi (Prophet Mohammad’s birthday).

The children were later rescued by the joint effort of vigilante groups and Nigerian security forces.
