IPOB, along with different groups in the southeast has today, delivered an extremely solid message on the recent increase in attacks by bandits and killer herdsmen in the southeast.
The groups had declared that they would fight for their homeland, and ensure to flush out the killer herdsmen and bandits from Igbo Land.
The position of the different groups in the South East on the issue of security was captured in separate releases, after the recent attacks launched in Ebonyi State by men suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen.
They had attacked some communities in the state, leaving behind a heap of dead villagers, while abducting some others including the head of a village.
The groups reiterated that it would not allow such to happen, never again. In its statement, IPOB and the ESN emphasized on renewed efforts to work together with other vigilante groups and clans that are ready to share information on the whereabouts and activities of killer herdsmen in the region, who have been causing havoc lately. Its leader, Nnamdi Kanu had also sworn to avenge the death of many of the locals killed in Ebonyi State.
The Ohaneze Ndigbo, led by Professor Obiozor had also condemned the recent incidents, reassuring the Igbo people that indeed, these kinds of attacks will not be allowed to persist in the region. They had also called for caution and restraint on the part of the youths, asking them to beat a retreat. The Southeastern Governors were also called to step up actions and activities aimed at reinvigorating security activities in the east, and also to ensure that the ban on open grazing is properly enforced.
